TOTARA TEAM TRIP TO AUCKLAND ZOO
Our Year 2 tamariki have been learning about animals and their habitats. To support this learning and to see actual animals and where they live, the team went on an EOTC (Education Outside the Classroom) trip to the Auckland Zoo. The children had a session with a Zoo Educator and learnt about how animals adapt to help them survive. Classes then got to explore the zoo and see animals from around the world. A big thank you to all the parents who joined us and supported our tamariki on the day, everyone had a fantastic time!

BULLYING
Bullying is a deliberate act that involves a power imbalance, has an element of repetition and is harmful. It can be physical, verbal or social, including both the physical and/or digital environment.
It is an issue that all schools face and it can vary in severity and impact. Addressing any bullying incidences is a priority for us at Randwick Park School. If you are worried or believe your child is experiencing bullying, please reach out either by email or by visiting the office. We take all concerns from parents seriously. In many cases restorative meetings resolve the issue however if the problem reoccurs, please don’t hesitate to get back in touch with us again.
To support our aim for a bully free school, we are participating in Pink shirt day this Friday.

PINK SHIRT DAY
Pink Shirt Day is when Aotearoa comes together to take a stand against bullying. This event promotes kindness, inclusion, and takes a stand against bullying. It began as a movement to support a student who was bullied for wearing pink, and has since become a symbol of respect and acceptance. Wearing pink is a simple but strong way to spread the message – bullying has no place in our community.
On Friday, 16th May, all staff and students are invited to wear pink to school to show support for creating a safe, caring, and inclusive school environment.

WINTER MONTHS
As the weather changes and the months get colder, please make sure students wear our winter school uniform (Navy trackpants, school poloshirt, school jersey and closed covered shoes) that they are clearly labeled with their name. If for any reason, your child is unable to wear school uniform, please send a note with them.

WHĀNAU CONCERNS
If you have concerns about any aspect of our school, please speak directly with your child’s classroom teacher or one of our friendly office staff, who will direct you to the appropriate person. A reminder, it is not appropriate to address issues directly with other children, this is the responsibility of school staff, and we take all matters seriously.

HEADLICE
We are experiencing challenges with headlice at our school. We ask that you please check your children’s hair thoroughly and treat them if any eggs/lice are present.
An effective treatment is to put conditioner in your child’s hair and thoroughly go through with a fine tooth comb. Doing this every night for a fortnight will effectively remove any live lice and eggs.
All bedding needs to needs to be washed to stop reocurring issues.
If you have any further problems or questions, please contact the Public Health Nurse on 09 266 7776
