Randwick Park School is proud of our Physical Education and Sports programmes. Our aim is to support all of our tamariki in developing their physical skills through a range of disciplines lead by a team of passionate and dedicated sports leaders and coaches.
Physical Education is taught from Years 1-8 and focuses on developing a range of physical and motor skills. We also foster resilience, co-operation, perseverance and sportsmanship throughout our programmes.
Our Years 5-8 students have the opportunity to participate in inter-school sports tournaments through our involvement in the MPSSA (Year 5/6) and CCSA (Year 7/8) Sports Clusters. Sports include (but are not limited to) Softball, Tag, Football, Rugby, Netball, League, Volleyball, Cross Country, Touch and Athletics. If individuals or teams are successful at cluster tournaments they have the chance to compete at Zone or Inter-Zone level.
Annually, some of our talented Year 7/8 tamariki represent Randwick Park at the AIMS Games in Tauranga. This gives them the opportunity to experience the challenge a high level tournament against schools from across New Zealand. In 2022 we were represented by three teams – Girls’ Futsal, Netball and Boys’ Rugby Sevens. The aim of the AIMS tournament is to provide opportunities for students in their intermediate years to compete at an elite level, be active, celebrate fair play and enjoy success. In 2022 there were over 11,000 students participating.
