RPS NETBALL SKILLS 10 WEEK PROGRAMME
We’ve just wrapped up our 10 week Future Ferns Netball Programme, and what a fantastic journey it has been! It’s been awesome to see our tamariki learn new skills, embrace teamwork, and develop a love for the game. We hope this is just the beginning of a lifelong passion for netball!
A massive thank you to Mr Lologa and Mrs Savali for organising and running the programme. Your hard work and dedication have made this a big success.
Also, a huge shoutout to our Year 7/8 netball players who stepped up to coach and share their skills with the next generation. You’ve been amazing role models!
Ka mau te wehi, everyone! We can’t wait to see where this love for netball takes you all in the future.

Last Wednesday, we took two Year 5/6 boys football teams to compete in a MPSSA tournament. Team One placed 1st in the Championship round, and Team Two placed 3rd in Division 1. Both teams improved throughout the day and represented our school well. We are proud of every player! A big thank you to Mr Logan and Mr McNaught who spent time training and preparing the boys.

YEAR 7/8 BOYS RUGBY
Well done to our two Year 7/8 Rugby teams who competed at a Central Counties tournament yesterday. You displayed great attitude and played some fantastic Rugby. Our Open Weight team were unbeaten throughout the day, placing first – they will go on to the Counties Zone finals next week. Our Under 55kg improved throughout the day, placing second. It was great to see so many students who had never played a contact sport before, challenging themselves out of their comfort zone! Thank you Miss Doran, Mr Moses and Matua Jordan for all you time and effort training the boys.

UNDERSTANDING NATURES RHYTHM ROOM 17
Room 17, have been learning about different habitats. This week, our focus was the South American rainforest. We explored the different layers of the canopy and discussed which animals live and thrive in each layer. It was a fun and worthwhile experience, especially since we got to see some of these animals during our trip to the Auckland Zoo.

YEAR 7/8 CHESS TOURNAMENT
Three Year 7/8 chess teams represented our school at the Manurewa Intermediate tournament last Thursday, competing against 29 teams from 9 different schools.
Our A Team — Jay Jay, Willy, Isaiah, and Joseph — delivered an impressive performance, finishing 4th overall. The B Team — Raiden, Walter, Zai, and Ames — placed a solid 13th, and our C Team — Luke, Dylan, Tiaki, and Mika — followed closely in 14th place.
A special shout-out to Isaiah, who achieved a perfect score by winning all of his games — an outstanding individual effort!
Well done to all players for your hard work, and great sportsmanship on the day.

AIMS NETBALL GIRLS AND THE NORTHERN STARS
On Saturday 24 May, the RPS AIMS netball team got the chance to walk onto the court with the one and only Northern Stars before the game started. It was an amazing experience, and we were grateful we got the opportunity to do it.
There is eleven of us in the team and before the game, we went behind the scenes, decorate the dressing room and meet some of the players. They were nice and said ‘hi’ before we walked out with them.
It was awesome to see what goes into becoming a professional netball player and watching them play live on the court!
Thank you to the Northern Stars for letting us be part of it. It’s a memory we won’t forget.

RTC RESPONSIBLE THINKING CLASSROOM
RTC is our Responsible Thinking Classroom – a thinking space where tamariki can reflect on their choices or have some quiet time when needed. Classrooms can be busy environments, and RTC provides a calm space that helps support learning while allowing teachers to focus on teaching.
When a child goes to RTC, a teacher is available to talk with them about what happened and to support them in developing positive strategies. To help student reflection, they write a plan that outlines what happened, why it happened, and what they will do differently next time.
At Randwick Park School, we believe that making mistakes is an important part of learning. We would only contact whānau about a child going to RTC if it was an ongoing issue and the plans were not working.

EVERYDAY MATTERS
Going to school every day is important for all school aged tamariki (children). It helps build their confidence and social skills, and to achieve their education and life ambitions. This information helps you decide when it is okay to send your child to school, when you should keep your child at home and when you should contact a health professional for advice.
If your child has any symptoms of COVID-19, it is recommended they test for COVID-19 using a RAT. Some of the symptoms include a new or worsening cough, sneezing and runny nose, and a fever. If they test positive it is recommended that they isolate for at least 5 days. After having COVID-19, your child should be okay to return to school after completing their recommended isolation as long as they do not have symptoms anymore, or they only have mild symptoms which are improving and they are feeling well.
Keep your child at home if they have any of these symptoms:
Fever Vomiting or diarrhoea Sore throat School sores or other skin infections A new rash or itches Wheezing or difficulty breathing

BULLYING
Bullying is a deliberate act that involves a power imbalance, has an element of repetition and is harmful. It can be physical, verbal or social, including both the physical and/or digital environment.
It is an issue that all schools face and it can vary in severity and impact. Addressing any bullying incidences is a priority for us at Randwick Park School. If you are worried or believe your child is experiencing bullying, please reach out either by email or by visiting the office. We take all concerns from parents seriously. In many cases restorative meetings resolve the issue however if the problem reoccurs, please don’t hesitate to get back in touch with us again.

WHĀNAU CONCERNS
If you have concerns about any aspect of our school, please speak directly with your child’s classroom teacher or one of our friendly office staff, who will direct you to the appropriate person.
