A MESSAGE TO OUR AIMS TEAMS

On Friday, our Futsal Team will head to Tauranga to compete in the 2025 AIMS Games, followed by our Netball and Sevens teams over the weekend. We wish them all the best and know they will model our RPS values as they compete. Thank you to the coaches and teachers who have given their time to support our tamariki. We look forward to hearing updates throughout the week.

TRIENNIAL SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS

Randwick Park School has nine candidates standing for the five vacancies on our School Board. Most people should have received their voting papers via email, with a small number sent by post. Voting closes at 4:00 PM on 10th September. Below are the candidates standing for election.

PRE-AIMS FUTSAL TOURNAMENT

Our Randwick Park School Team faced off against Kohimarama in the pre-aims Futsal final on Sunday night, and what a game it was. The boys showed incredible courage and determination, coming back from 1-0, 2-1, and 3-2 deficits to finish the game 3-3 in normal time. The excitement didn’t stop there as it went to a sudden death penalty shootout, where our star goalkeeper Zai, made a crucial save, leading the boys to a 3-1 victory!

A big shoutout to Mr Ratnesh and Miss McColl for their amazing coaching and management. Bring on the AIMS Games!

RUBIKS CUBE CLUB

Over this term, we have had a break-time Rubik’s Cube club. The tamariki have been learning strategies to solve this three-dimensional puzzle. Sadly, it was Mr. Ruiz’s last day at RPS yesterday. However, there are still plenty of Rubik’s Cubes in the playground and many keen students ready to take on the challenge!

MATHEX

Recently our school took part in the Auckland Mathex competition, one of the regions most exciting and fast paced Maths event. We took two Year 7 and two Year 8 teams.  We competed against about 100 schools, racing the 30 minute timer to answer 20 questions that tested our speed, logic, and teamwork. What an intense, yet rewarding competition it was, as well as a great opportunity to sharpen and push ourselves to the next level. What a thrilling competition!

TEACHER ONLY DAY (PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT)

On Monday, 18th August, teachers participated in a Ministry of Education Mathematics professional development day. The focus of the day was to build a deeper understanding of the revised Mathematics curriculum, including the content for each year level and the progression of skills and knowledge across the years. It was a valuable day of learning for the teachers and a great example of our motto: ‘Growing and Learning Together to Be the Best We Can Be’.

All schools across New Zealand have been allocated two Ministry of Education mandated curriculum teacher-only days to support professional learning and development for the new Maths and English curriculums. Randwick Park School’s second teacher-only day will be on Friday, 21st November.

Thank you for your support and understanding regarding these days

TE HUI AKO SURVEY PRIZE DRAW
A big thank you to everyone who visited the library during Te Hui Ako to complete our Term 3 Whānau Survey. At last week’s assembly, we held a live draw for the two $50 vouchers. Congratulations to our winners, Monique Manawanui’s mum and Shady Kartel’s mum — we hope you enjoy spending your vouchers!

STREET RACKET COMES TO RPS

Street Racket is a fun, easy-to-learn bat and ball game designed to be played on any hard surface. It promotes movement, coordination, and social interaction. Randwick Park School was lucky to receive a grant from Grassroots Trust to introduce the game and run sessions with some of our Year 1 and 2 classes. The first session was a success, with our tamariki building their skills as balls flew everywhere!

THANK YOU

Mr. Manjinder Singh and our local Sikh Temple kindly donated extra food, which we were able to distribute to our community. We really appreciate their relationship with Randwick Park School.
A big thank you on behalf of our community.

HEARING CHECKS AT RPS

RPS and Painga Project are working together to offer free hearing screening for all tamariki at Randwick Park School.
Your child will have their hearing checked at no cost to you. If you child requires further hearing support, we will let you know what is involved.

Please inform the school if you do NOT want your child to be screened, by contacting the school office.

KEEPING OUR TAMARIKI SAFE
Teaching Kids to Be Stranger Smart

Tamariki must know what to do if there is an issue walking to and from school, especially if it involves an adult they do not know.  Having conversations and reminding them regularly will help them make smart decisions if they are ever in a difficult situation.  Please speak with your child/ren about what do if they are approached, offered lollies or asked to get into a car –  focus on how to be safe, rather than the danger.  Your conversation may include:

  • Don’t accept ride or go with an adult unless your family has said you can
  • Never accept gifts such as lollies from people you don’t know without permission
  • Ask before going to friends’ homes after school
  • If there is a problem yell and shout for help, if you can get away to a safe place, if you can’t get away you are allowed to hit, kick and scratch.
  • Most importantly, they must tell a trusted adult what happened

Healthy Kai, Healthy Kids!

A reminder that we are a water only school, and we encourage all students to bring healthy food choices in their lunchboxes each day. Nutritious kai helps tamariki stay focused, energised, and ready to learn throughout the day.

Please support us by not sending children with lollies, sugary drinks, and large bags of chips or biscuits.  If students do bring these types of snacks to school they will be taken and returned at the end of the day.

To support health eating we are also part of the Fruit in Schools programme, which provides fresh fruit to our tamariki every day. It’s just one of the ways we promote wellbeing and support learning at our kura!

Thank you for your support in helping grow strong, healthy minds.
