DIWALI CELEBRATIONS
Last Friday, Randwick Park School celebrated Diwali. Our kura was bright and filled with colour, with tamariki and staff wearing cultural dress. It was a wonderful opportunity not only to acknowledge Diwali, but also to celebrate the rich diversity within our school community.
A huge thank you to our team of teachers who organised events over the week including our fantastic Bollywood performances at the Friday assembly. The talent and enthusiasm on display were very special, well done to everyone involved!

ATTENDANCE – EVERYDAY MATTERS
Last week 67% of our tamariki were at school for more than 80% of the time, a fantastic 10% increase from the previous week. Ka rawe, whānau! While this is a positive step, we are still working toward our goal of every student attending school regularly (no more than five days absent per term). Your support is essential, please help us by ensuring your child/ren are at school each day.
A huge shout-out to the Kotahitanga House for achieving the highest regular attendance last week! Mana House followed closely, with Te Hiringa not far behind.
Congratulations to our LEGO prize winners from Kotahitanga – Hayley (Room 1), Ryaan (Room 10), and Katalina (Room 15)! We hope you enjoy your prizes. There will be another draw next week for the house with the highest attendance, so keep showing up every day for your chance to win!

LOCKDOWN PRACTICE
At 1:35pm yesterday, Randwick Park School carried out a playground lockdown practice. We hold these drills regularly to ensure all tamariki and staff are confident and prepared in the event we ever need to go into lockdown to keep everyone safe.
Our students and staff did an outstanding job, within seconds of the bell ringing everyone had gone to the closest room and got down and quiet in the center of the room away from the windows. Once the practice was over, we assembled on the field (our evacuation point) and completed roll checks to ensure all students and staff were accounted for. This part of the drill also went incredibly smoothly.
Wade Harrison from Harrison Tew, who supported us during the practice, was very impressed and commented that the drill was carried out perfectly. Ka pai, everyone!

RANDWICK PARK SCHOOL CHESS COMPETITION – A BATTLE OF BRILLIANT MINDS

After many intense matches, we’re proud to announce our champions:

Ka pai to all our participants for showing great focus, sportsmanship, and perseverance. You’ve proven that at Randwick Park School, we’re not just thinkers — we’re strategists!

MEASLES
There are reported cases of measles in Auckland. The first symptoms of measles are similar to other respiratory illnesses, such as a cold, COVID-19 or flu which means it can be hard to identify.
Symptoms of measles are:
- fever (a temperature of at least 38°C)
- cough
- runny nose
- sore, red eyes
- rash

The rash develops 3 to 5 days after the other symptoms. The rash appears as pink or red spots or bumps which start on the face before moving down the rest of the body. The rash may be more difficult to see on darker skin. The rash is not usually itchy. It can last for a week or more.
Keep students home from school if they have any measles symptoms, and ring the doctor, or call Healthline for FREE on 0800 611 116.
Also, check all whānau are immunised, and encourage them to catch up if they are not fully immunised or not sure: info.health.nz/measles-immunity.
