ATTENDANCE – EVERYDAY MATTERS
Last week at Randwick Park School, 64% of our tamariki attended school for more than 90% of the week. We need to keep building on this as we work towards our goal of every student attending school regularly, with no more than five days absent per term. Please continue to support us by ensuring your child/ren are at school every day.
A big well done to Ururoa House, who made an impressive jump from the lowest attendance the previous week to the top spot this week with 66%! Te Hiringa followed closely in second place, with Mana just behind and Kotahitanga only one percent behind them.
Congratulations to our LEGO prize winners from Ururoa – Cairo (Room 15), Israel (Room 31), and James Dean (Room 13). Enjoy your prizes! There’s another LEGO draw next week for the house with the highest attendance so keep sending your tamariki to school every day for their chance to win! Let’s see which house takes the top spot next!

EPRO8 SEMI FINALS
At the Epro8 Semi-final competition, our team – the RPS Engineers, took on the challenge of constructing a working Thunderbird Machine, just like from the movie.
We completed the frame, and the next step was to make a roof with the linear bearings. We added a belt drive and motorised it so that the roof would open with the press of a button, this was the first criteria.
After that, we placed a ram at the bottom so that when the roof opened, the ram would rise with the Thunderbird, then the air would pump the Thunderbird with air. When the pressure was right, the Thunderbird would shoot out.
The last step was to sequence the entire build, so after re-wiring everything into the sequence box, the Thunderbird was done.
The competition was thrilling, though we did have some bumps along the way. In spite of that, we finished in the top 10, so I say we represented RPS well.
A very big thank you to Miss Stickney for helping us practise during school and Mr. Dawson for taking us.
Aarush Raj, Room 13

KOWHAI TEAM MASSEY PARK POOLS TRIP
Our students have been learning water skills at school. As part of our Kowhai EOTC program, we visited the Massey Pool to refine and practice these skills in a new setting. The students showed great enthusiasm and confidence in the water, building on what they had learned at school. It was a fantastic opportunity to develop both their water safety and swimming abilities!
