HOWICK HISTORIC VILLAGE TRIP
POHUTUKAWA TEAM
The Pohutukawa team recently visited Howick Historical Village, where students traveled back in time to experience life in the late 1800s, including the Gold Rush period. They participated in a Victorian-style school lesson, discovering what education and discipline were like at that time. Tamariki explored traditional household items, such as hot water bottles, irons, kettles, and hatchets, and learned how people communicated before the age of phones and the internet – using codes, Morse, and Braille. It was an engaging, handson experience that made history come alive.

INTER-ZONE TOUCH FINALS – YR 7/8 GIRLS
Our fantastic Year 7/8 Girls’ Touch team played in the Auckland Inter-Zone Touch finals last week. Finishing top two in their pool saw them qualify for the semi-finals. Unfortunately they were defeated by St Kentigerns. They bounced back in an intense third and fourth playoff against Murray’s Bay Intermediate – the game went to extra time and a drop off. Ka pai girls! Third place in Auckland is an amazing achievement! Thank you to Mrs Savali and Moses for all your work in coaching and refereeing!

SUNNY MEMORIAL FOOTBALL GAMES
Our annual Sunny Memorial football day was held this week. Sunny was an RPS student who loved football and sadly passed away. Each year we celebrate his passion with a memorial game against The Gardens School. It is a very special day for his family who attend.
This year four teams took the field. Our Year 5/6 Girls opened the day with an impressive 3–0 victory, while the Year 5/6 Boys battled hard in a close match, finishing 2–1 to The Gardens. The Year 7/8 Girls showed great determination but were edged out 2–0 by The Gardens. The event concluded with an exciting Year 7/8 Boys game, where our team secured a 4–3 win.
Well done to all the players, and thank you to our coaches and refs for making the day possible.

ATTENDANCE – EVERYDAY MATTERS
Last week, Randwick Park School’s regular attendance increased by 1% to 65% – meaning 455 out of 700 tamariki attended school for more than 90% of the week. We need to keep building on this as we work towards our goal of every student attending school regularly, with no more than five days absent per term. Please continue to support us by ensuring your child/ren are at school every day.
Well done to Ururoa House, who had the highest attendance for the second week in a row with 68.5%. The challenge is now out there for the other houses to knock them off the top spot!
Well done to our Ururoa LEGO prize winners – Rachel (Room 15), Adi (Room 8), and Quelea (Room 9). We hope you enjoy your prizes! Another LEGO draw is coming up next week for the house with the highest regular attendance, so keep encouraging your tamariki to come to school each day for their chance to win. Who will be on top next week? Let’s find out!

BRING A BIKE & SCOOTER LOCK TO SCHOOL
If tamariki ride scooters or bikes to school, please make sure they bring a lock to keep it safe during the day. Locking rides helps prevent them from being taken. Thanks for helping us keep our school community safe and responsible!
