CRICKET – YEAR 5-6
Well done to our Year 5 & 6 Cricket teams who competed last week. Our mixed team placed first and boys team third! There was a massive 34 teams at the tournament so these placings are impressive! Huge thanks to our coaches Logan and Tui for all the time spent training and supporting our teams.

INTERZONE SOFTBALL
We are thrilled to share some fantastic sporting news from last weeks Auckland Inter-Zone Softball Tournament. Our Year 8 boys’ team earned their place at this prestigious event by first winning both the Central Counties and Counties tournaments, an exceptional achievement that set the stage for today’s success.
Competing against the very best teams from across Auckland, our boys rose to the challenge and finished as runners-up. This remarkable result means they are officially the second-ranked Year 8 boys’ softball team in Auckland.
What makes this accomplishment even more significant is that many of the schools at this level are large intermediate schools with Year 7–8 rolls exceeding 1,000 students, while our school has just 151 students. Our team’s success is a testament to their skill, determination, and outstanding teamwork.
We also congratulate our Year 7 boys, who performed brilliantly to qualify for the Auckland finals, an excellent achievement that reflects the strength of softball across our school.
A massive thank you goes to our dedicated coaches, Miss Doran, Mrs Savali, and Whaea Marilyn. Their commitment, time, and passion have played a vital role in supporting and guiding our teams.
We are incredibly proud of all our players and coaches for representing our school with such pride and excellence.

RPNC NETBALL INTERMEDIATE GRADING DAY
It was an awesome start to the season from our two Year 7/8 netball teams – Intermediate A (RP Ururoa) and Intermediate B (RP Kotahitanga) – at the grading day last weekend.
Both teams played really well, showed great teamwork and sportsmanship, and came away with some well-earned wins. It was fantastic to see the effort, communication, and positive attitudes out on the court. They’ve set themselves up nicely for the season ahead – we are looking forward to what’s to come!
Thank you to our umpires, coaches, managers and whānau.

YEAR 5-6 PRESEASON NETBALL TOURNAMENT
Our Year 5/6 netball teams had a great day out at their “for fun” pre-season tournament on the weekend. The focus was on the girls enjoying their netball, building confidence, and learning more about the game. For many, it was their first time playing, and it was awesome to see everyone getting stuck in, supporting each other, and improving with every game. There’s already some fantastic talent shining through! Special congratulations to Team 1 for taking out the Sportsmanship Award and to Marcia and Acacia, who were selected by the umpires as MVPs for their teams – ka mau te wehi, girls! A huge thank you to our amazing coaches, Ana and Stephanie – this wouldn’t have been possible without you. We appreciate the time, energy, and heart you put into coaching the girls. Thank you to all the parents who came out to support on such a hot day – we really appreciate you being there on the sidelines!

Our corridors are open to students and whānau from the 8.30 am bell. We kindly ask that you respect teachers’ time before this, as they are preparing for the day’s learning. Students are welcome to bring their bags into the corridors once the 8.30 am bell has rung.
At the end of the school day, please collect your child from the outside of their classrooms. Please do not wait in the corridor outside rooms as they become very congested.
We appreciate your support in keeping our tamariki safe.

EYE ON NATURE AT THE BOTANIC GARDENS
Last Wednesday a group of 26 Year 5 and 6 students participated in the Eye on Nature programme at the Botanical Gardens. We had four rotations. First we went into the forest and looked for bugs, mushrooms, birds, slug trails and trees. It was fun and relaxing. We loved being in the forest. Next we went to the Watercare station. In groups of six we planned then made a model of using water and how it changed when pollution was added. Our third stop was MOTAT where we learnt about energy and how it works. We dug coal and put it into the furnace to show how a steam train works. Finally we went to the Pest Control station. We got to see possums , ferrets, stoats, rats and other mammal predators and feel their fur. We set traps and tracking boxes to see their footprints. We had a wonderful day!

STUDENT LEADER CONFERENCE
On Friday, nine of our student leaders joined more than 1,000 peers from across Auckland at the GRIP Student Leadership Conference in Penrose – and what a day it was.
From the moment they arrived, our leaders were immersed in a high-energy programme that challenged them to think differently about what it means to lead. They connected with students from other schools, shared ideas, and picked up practical strategies they can bring back to our kura.
When we reflected on the day, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Words like “entertaining”, “educational” and “enjoyable” came up again and again. But more importantly, every one of them believes this is an opportunity next year’s leaders shouldn’t miss.
One message, in particular, stuck with them: “Others do what’s easy. Leaders do what’s necessary.”
We’re proud of the way our students represented our school and even prouder of the leadership they continue to show every day.

BIKE AND SCOOTER LOCKS
If tamariki ride their scooters or bikes to school, please ensure they bring a lock to keep it safe during the day. Locking rides helps prevent them from being taken. Thanks for helping us keep our school community safe and responsible.
