ATTENDANCE & LEGO WINNERS
Randwick Park School’s goal is to have 80% of student attending school regularly over the term. To achiever regularly attendance students need to be absent less that five days over the term. So far this year we have had 89% of student attending regularly – which is fantastic. We now need to maintain this over the next six weeks.
Last week Mana won our house attendance challenge with the most tamariki coming to school, close behind was Ururoa, followed by Kotahitanga and Te Hiringa. Thank you to all our whānau who are contacting us when their child/ren are not able to attend school.
Our Lego attendance drawer winners from Mana were Drestar from Room 17 and Iliganoa from Room 32. We will do another random draw next week from the winning house.

RAMADAN
Ramadan is a sacred month in the Islamic calendar and is observed by Muslims around the world. It is a time of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. During Ramadan, many Muslims fast each day from dawn until sunset, refraining from food and drink. The fast is broken each evening with a meal called iftar, often shared with family and friends.
Ramadan is also a time for giving to others, showing kindness, and strengthening faith. At the end of the month, Muslims celebrate with a special festival called Eid al-Fitr. Ramadan Mubarak to our Muslim whānau.

CHINESE NEW YEAR
Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year, is an important celebration for many people around the world. It marks the beginning of the lunar calendar and is a time for family gatherings, special meals, and cultural traditions.
Each year is represented by an animal from the Chinese zodiac. This year is the Year of the Horse, which symbolises energy, confidence, and determination. Celebrations often include sharing food, giving red envelopes, enjoying performances, and wishing one another good fortune and happiness for the year ahead.
We wish all families celebrating a joyful and prosperous New Year.

THANK YOU MANUREWA LOCAL BOARD
We would like to acknowledge the generous support of the Manurewa Local Board for the funding received in Term 4 2025 to deliver Mau Rākau at our kura.
This funding enabled us to have skilled kaiako from Toi Mauri Ora to lead weekly Mau Rākau sessions for our students. Mau Rākau, a traditional Māori martial art, provided rich opportunities for tamariki to deepen their understanding of te ao Māori, tikanga, and cultural traditions.
Through participation in Mau Rākau, students strengthened their confidence, sense of belonging, and pride in their Māori identity. The programme supports both cultural connection and physical wellbeing, weaving together discipline, teamwork, and respect.
We are delighted that the programme will continue again this year for 25 Year 5–8 students.
