ATTENDANCE – EVERYDAY MATTERS
Our regular attendance rate was 63.7% last week, which is up on the previous week – encouraging to see! Thank you to our whānau for continuing to support tamariki to get to school every day. Every day of learning counts!
Kotahitanga was back on top as the house with the highest regular attendance. Room 22 managed to knock Room 17 off the top classroom spot with an impressive 78.6% attendance.
Congratulations to April and TeAukura, both from Room 26, who won our weekly LEGO prize draw. Ka pai!

FAREWELL AND CONGRATULATIONS
We are pleased to announce that James Dawson has won the postiion of Principal at Clendon Park School, commencing in 2027. We are very excited for him, but sad he will finish his time at Randwick Park School at the end of this year.
James joined RPS in June 2025 as Associate Principal, bringing with him almost 25 years of teaching and leadership experience in the Manurewa area. During his time at Randwick Park, he has contributed to the school’s leadership, curriculum development, student wellbeing and sporting opportunities, making a positive difference across the school.
While we are naturally sad to be losing James, we are delighted for him and excited about this next chapter in his career. Clendon Park School holds a special place in his heart, having spent more than 20 years there before joining RPS. His appointment is a wonderful opportunity to return to a school and community that mean so much to him.
We thank James for his contribution to Randwick Park School and wish him and his whānau all the very best for the future. We know he will take many fond memories of his time at RPS with him, and we wish him every success when he takes on the role of Principal at Clendon Park School.

STUDENT LEADERS VOICE – SCHOOL ASSEMBLY
Kia ora everyone! We’ve got an important announcement today about food, drinks, and keeping our school tidy. And don’t worry – we’re not here to tell you that you can’t eat. Imagine the reaction if we tried that!
First up, drinks. Randwick Park School is a water-only school. That means water is the only drink you should be bringing to school. No juice, no fizzy drinks, and definitely no energy drinks! We’ve noticed some people bringing these drinks to school. And we know juice tastes good, but just because it says ‘made with real fruit’ on the packet, doesn’t mean it counts as your daily serving of fruit! We’re a healthy school, so bring your water bottle, keep hydrated, and leave the other drinks at home. It’s not a complicated rule!
Now, onto food. We’ve also noticed people walking around outside eating, and some people carrying food around in packets. This needs to stop. If you’re eating outside and your wrapper blows away, suddenly our beautiful school looks like a rubbish dump. And nobody wants to be the person whose chip packet ends up decorating the school garden! So, eat your food in the appropriate areas, and don’t walk around outside with food or packets. Put your rubbish in the bin, or better still, keep your food packaging in your lunchbox until you can dispose of it properly.
And here’s something to think about – there are only 32 school days left this year! Thirty-two days to make good choices, look after each other, and leave our school in a better state than we found it. We don’t want teachers spending their lunchtimes picking up your rubbish, and we definitely don’t want to be known as the school where you can find more chip packets than students on the field!
So, remember: water only, eat in the right places, and put your rubbish in the bin. Let’s finish the year with healthy habits, good choices, and a school we can all be proud of.
Thirty-two days to go – keep it healthy, keep it tidy, and keep it Randwick Park!
Our student leaders’ certificates recognise students in our school who have been displaying our school values:
– Responsible and resilient – Positive and kind – Succeeding as collaborative, curious and creative thinkers
Our recipients last week were Nicolette from Room 20 and Sheron from Room 11.

END OF DAY PARKING
A reminder to all whānau to please not park or stop on yellow lines when collecting tamariki at the end of the school day. Parking in these areas creates safety risks for our tamariki, reduces visibility for drivers and pedestrians, and adds to traffic congestion around the school. Yellow lines are there for a reason, and keeping these areas clear helps everyone move safely and smoothly. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep our tamariki safe.

HATS – SUMMER IS ON ITS WAY!
The weather is definitely getting warmer, and we are enjoying more sunshine! We are encouraging tamariki to start wearing their school hats, which must be navy-blue, full-brimmed bucket hats. At present, wearing hats is optional. However, as the weather gets hotter, hats will become compulsory. Wearing a hat helps protect our tamariki from the sun and possible issues later in life.
Please ensure all hats are clearly named. Thank you for helping us keep our tamariki sun-safe!
