A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINICIPAL

Kia ora e te whānau,

As we come to the end of a great but busy term, there have been many highlights. These include trips, sports where our tamariki continue to excel while demonstrating our RPS values, and extracurricular activities such as chess and mau rākau. The Pohutukawa camp was another standout, with tamariki taking part in a range of activities and experiences such as archery, rock wall climbing, and hut building. As always, our rich classroom programmes have continued, with tamariki learning about Manurewa.

Thank you to our school community for your ongoing support. These opportunities for our ākonga would not be possible without your partnership.

Wishing you all a safe and happy Easter break. We look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday 20 April, refreshed and ready for another great term.

WEEKLY ATTENDANCE & LEGO WINNERS

Well done to Kotahitanga who had 86.8% attendance last week and Room 32 who had the hightest attendance rate across the school with 93.5%. Our goal is to have all tamariki attending school regular which is less than five days off per term so please ensure you send your child to school all week, especially Thursday.

Congratulations to Talia from Room 20 and Emmanuel from Room 12 who won the house LEGO draw.

This Thursday, we will be presenting 100% attendance certificates to all tamariki who have attended school every day this term.

COUNTIES ZONE TOUCH

Both RPS touch teams, girls and boys, have been crowned Counties Zone Champions 2026 after winning the Central Counties Tournament and will now progress to the Auckland Champion of Champions tournament in Term 4 (November).

Both teams performed strongly throughout the tournament, including key matches against Manurewa Intermediate (a school of over 1000 students, with a proud history and numerous titles), and remained unbeaten on the day.

The teams have continued to develop over time, building on preparation, teamwork, and a clear game plan established last year. This journey has also been carried forward in memory of Moses, whose influence and belief in the teams’ potential has remained an important part of their motivation.

A special thank you to our coaches, Miss Doran, Miss Savali, and Jordan, for your work in supporting the teams.

MPSSA RIPPA RUGBY TOURNAMENT

RPS had a great day at the Year 4–6 MPSSA Rippa Rugby tournament, taking three teams to compete yesterday. Our mixed Year 4 team showed awesome skills and really impressed throughout the day. Their grade was non-competitive, so no scores were recorded, but they would have been right up there if they were!

The Year 5/6 girls team had some strong performances and continued to improve as the day went on, finishing 10th overall – an awesome effort, girls.

Our Year 5/6 boys team had a fantastic tournament. They were undefeated in pool play, then drew their semi-final against Finlayson. Thanks to scoring the first try, they advanced to the final, where they faced Te Wharekura o Tāmaki ki te Tonga and came away with the win to be crowned tournament champions – finishing 1st out of 16 teams! They have also qualified for Champ of Champs in Term 2.

We are really proud of all three teams and the way they grew and supported each other throughout the day. Ka mau te wehi, everyone!

T1 RUGBY FESTIVAL

Counties Manukau Rugby is piloting a new non-contact version of Rugby called T1 Rugby. We were fortunate to have them come in and take a session here at school. RPS students then went along and put these skills into practice at a T1 Rugby Festival day, at Navigation Home Stadium in Pukekohe. It was great to build our skills and challenge ourselves in trying a new sport!

HOUSE POINTS

Congratulations to the Ururoa house for taking out the Week 8 house points.
Second week in a row of purple pride!!
Their house flag will be raised this week once again!
