WEEKLY ATTENDANCE – EVERYDAY MATTERS
Our regular attendance dipped last week from 58.6% to 55.7%. Today is the first day of spring, so hopefully we are through the worst of the winter colds and bugs!
Thank you to all the whānau who let us know when their child is unable to attend school. Last week, 78% of whānau contacted the school to let us know about absences. If your child is unable to attend, please remember to let us know via the Hero app, email or phone.
A big well done to Kotahitanga, who are continuing to lead the way as our top attendance house! They achieved an impressive 71% regular attendance last week. Room 22 are also still at the top of the school with an outstanding 82% regular attendance. They are certainly setting the bar high for everyone else! Keep up the great work Kotahitanga! Congratulations to Cedeez from Room 21 and Hesadha from Room 10, our lucky LEGO winners from Kotahitanga. Who will be next week’s winners?

TE REO MĀORI
Each week classes will be introduced to a new te reo Māori word/phrase to learn and use within the classroom. Tamariki and staff will be encouraged to replace everyday English words with reo Māori and challenge themselves to use them throughout the week. The initiative helps to grow confidence in speaking te reo Māori and deepen understanding of the langauge.

REHU TAI YR 7-8 SPEECH FINALS
Last Wednesday, our four intrepid Rehu Tai finalists went to Reremoana School for the Year 7–8 Manurewa Rehu Tai Finals. Despite some very tough competition and a few prolonged technical difficulties, all four performed superbly.
Sala’a (Flash Talk) and Arsh (Spoken Word Poetry) delivered powerful and assured performances, but narrowly missed out on a top-three placing. Yisrael overcame some microphone malfunctions to claim third place in the rap category, while Ames rose above the competition in the hotly contested traditional speech category.
Ames’ first-place finish not only secured his ticket to the Auckland Finals on Thursday, but also extended an incredible record: in three years of competing at the Rehu Tai Manurewa Finals, he has never been beaten.
We wish Ames every success at the Year 7–8 Auckland Rehu Tai Finals on Thursday night!

AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS NETBALL
Last Tuesday we had two teams compete in the Auckland Netball Championships. To qualify for this tournament is a massive achievement, as only the sixteen best teams in each grade from across Auckland are eligible to play. Our Year 7 team placed 11th in their grade.
In pool play, our Year 8 team had a narrow loss to Kedgley Intermediate (14-16) before winning games against Sylvia Park (11-5) and Waiau Pa (17-1). This qualified us for a quarter final against Auckland Normal Intermediate – the boys played exceptionally well to hold their nerve in a tight game, winning 11-10. In our semifinal, we faced eventual champions Clendon Park, losing 19-11 in an excellent game. In the playoff for third, we again faced Kedgley Intermediate. The boys showed a great mindset to come back from a four goal deficit to win 14-13.
To place third in all of Auckland was an amazing effort – this also replicated last year’s result for the same team. Tino pai rawa!

MĀORI BILINGUAL UNIT – EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
Last Monday, a paper form was sent home to gauge interest in reestablishing a Māori Bilingual Unit at Randwick Park School in 2027. This is part of our initial planning process and will help us understand the level of community interest and inform our next steps.
If you have not yet returned your form, it is not too late! Please ask your child to drop it off at the office. If you did not receive a form, please contact the office and we can arrange for one to be sent home.

MANUREWA MATHEX
Our third and final Mathex Competition of the year took place at Manuwera Intermediate, where we met schools from across Manuwera. We were able to take one Year 5 and 6 team and one Year 7 and 8 team. Both our teams showed exceptional teamwork and resilience during the challenge, with the Year 5/6 team taking out second place and our Year 7/8 team placing a well-earned third place. A big congratulations, well done. Thank you to all the students who have trained for Mathex throughout the year with Mrs Horne and represented our school at one of the Mathex competitions this year.

FLAG FOOTBALL
On Thursday, some of our Year 5 and 6 students attended the Flag Football Give It a Go Day at Mountfort Park. Our students were mixed with tamariki from other schools across Manurewa and learnt the basics of how to play flag football through a range of fun games, skills and drill sessions.
The day also included a dance battle, a teachers vs coaches game, and finished with students getting the chance to play an actual game of flag football. Lots of fun was had by all!

WARRIORS TAMA TOA
Last Friday, 22 of our boys headed to Go Media Stadium for a great day of rugby league, leadership and learning.
The boys developed their league skills, played tag, worked on their leadership skills and enjoyed an inside tour of the stadium.

We have ManaKids health nurses onsite daily. They can see your tamariki for :

- Skin checks
- Head lice
- Dental health
- Ear and eye health and checks
- Respiratory health
- Allergies
